Primary & Secondary Education

Where we started and the experiences we have to offer.

The directors have been involved with educational audio visual services since 1997, installing solutions into hundreds of schools UK wide under the company name DSMC Ltd.

In 2001, with the advent of the interactive boards, DSMC set up the only known centre containing all the new systems and the first to offer accredited Interactive Whiteboard Training for education through the BECTA scheme. Many of the future manufacturers’ programmes were based on these.

In 2008, the company changed to Phoenix AV Solutions offering greater diversity for Higher Education and within 18 months of starting, won several national awards and acclamations.

Working For You

We believe that you are the driving force – not the available technology.

It is easy to get overawed with new technology and often, establishments take on new systems that don’t really benefit them. Our philosophy is to get to understand the way you teach and your methodologies and needs first. That way, we can provide relevant and pertinent advice and offer the solutions that fit your requirements and budget.

We provide for all project sizes and specialisations

We can provide individual services to suit a specific requirement or a full turnkey service, looking after all your needs and requriements from start to finish:

Whilst we effectively provide this as part of all our services, we especially recommend this as a separate consideration for projects requiring new innovation and ideas or for large scale projects.

We will visit your premises, discuss in detail with you and if employed, designers / architects / contractors all aspects of the project providing a comprehensive report of options, H&S considerations and recommendations. This can be used as a basis for either moving forward with ourselves or a tender document if necessary.

We maintain an ‘open’ company policy – that is to say we have access to all the brands and solutions on offer. This allows us to provide an honest and unbiased recommendation as to what is best for YOU, rather than trying to push a product due to an exclusivity agreement with a manufacturer or brand.

We maintain links with a specialist associate company who undertake all installations in accordance with our engineering and project managers. We can ensure engineers are properly trained on all relevant courses, hold the requisite HSE construction and industry H&E qualifications as well as CRB checks. In this way, we can continue to ensure the services we provide are at the highest professional levels.

‘What’s the point of the latest technology if you don’t know how to use it!’

Having started as a training company for both corporate and education, we fully understand the importance training has on any new equipment to ensure the users are competent and confident in its use. To that end, we provide onsite training support for all systems provided.

Maintenance & Ongoing Support

All are systems are covered by enhanced warranties. We support manufacturer warranties as applied and can also provide and implement additional Maintenance Support Contracts if required.

Solutions & Systems

We don’t have a ‘shopping’ site because we cater for all brands and solutions

Often, when think about AV in education, many stop at the classroom and the typical teaching aids of projector and screen / LED monitor, generally interactive.

We know that this is far from what is available or needed and within any educational establishment, there are a host of areas and practices that can benefit from properly thought out audio visual solutions.

These include:

New Technologies

Whilst some see technology as ‘faddish’ – it isn’t all just for the science fiction nerds

Advances in 3D, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality means that there are some fascinating and extremely user friendly technologies and devices to make the learning experience even more engaging for students.

Glasses-free 3D systems allow viewers to see even more in sciences such as human biology whilst AR and VR allows students to fully immerse themselves in engineering projects like never before.

And these solutions are not budget busters – it is surprising what can be achieved and provided, including bespoke programmes to fit your needs. At Phoenix AV, we work with a number of award winning companies who can help take your teaching to the next level.

Nursery & Junior Safety

Solutions to assist with planning excursions and child safety

There have been many news reported cases of children being ‘lost’ or left behind on school trips causing huge stress for the children, parents and teachers alike not to mention the unfavourable attention on the school.

Unfortunately, many teachers tasked with organising and running school excursions have little or no experience. As a secondary service and based on their varied and extensive experiences, the directors have set up a second company CHILD SAFE Limited which is aimed at supporting schools, teachers and parents when dealing with children away from their school or home environments.

The CHILD SAFE link will take you to the website with details and solutions to help.

Purchasing Consortium

Centralised buying of ‘cheap’ audio visual systems

Phoenix AV are NOT members of any purchasing consortium, nor do we strive to be. We believe these consortium’s are actually detrimental to good purchasing practices where technology is concerned and consequently, as a matter of professional morality, we have avoided them.

When consortium members are tendered for, it is often for 3 – 4 year periods and based on certain equipment at discounted pricing. Over the years, the catalogues are often not upgraded leaving schools to order what could be out of date or un-supported equipment from potentially unscrupulous dealers looking to move these items off their shelves.

Education establishments can purchase outside of these consortium’s if they feel they are not getting best advice. We at Phoenix AV are happy to supply and support in such cases or, for those who feel they need to purchase via a consortium, can provide independent and unbiased consultative support to confirm what is being offered is indeed latest technology at best pricing.
